Scientists Worry Machines May Outsmart Man
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/26/science/26robot.html?_r=0
In this article, the advancement of technology and computers is said to be impressive. Much like Thomas Friedman said about Windows and Apple allowing people to be more productive along with advancing telecommunications. Even though the article says technology is impressive, it also says technology is concerning. The advancement of technology could allow humans to lose power over the systems in systems like call-centers as well as losing jobs the people could easily do. Scientists have also said, according to the article, that machines with the capability to kill will be not to far off in the future. The article also says the development of the technology is the pivotal point for the future. This is the part of the article that differs from Thomas's idea. Unlike Thomas, the article states that the technology is no longer necessarily a good thing and can be harmful to the human race and the world.

DeleteThe Truth About Technology's Greatest Myth
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bbc.com/future/story/20140110-technologys-greatest-myth/2
The article above was written by BBC columnist Tom Chatfield. He compares the reality and panic stricken fantasy that is the singularity myth. The idea of singularity states that one day technological advances will surpass human intelligence. This ensues that technology will be developing indefinitely and that it is the answer to all of our problems. Supporters announce that by the end of this year there will be more cell phones than people throughout the world. Thomas Friedman believes that technological advances, the PC to be more specific, is one of numerous reasons why the world is being flattened. Thomas Friedman himself stated that "The internet as we know it has not yet emerged." There is no telling what the future holds in technology and what it will allow us to accomplish in connecting global knowledge. Going by what the article says, the world will be continuing to flatten for quite some time due to the ever expanding and modern inventions in the field of technology.
China media: iPhone models
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-24058861
Friedman’s assertion about this time period was providing many individuals with technology. Some of this technology allowed them to communicate and create an easier connection with the world. For instance, they connected the internet to the phone so they could send people private emails. This article is about sale of the new iPhones in China and how terribly the sold there when they first came out. It also discusses how the new iPhone is still considered to be the best smartphone by many experts. The article relates to Freidman’s assertion because Apple is putting new technology into the hands of people in China and trying to provide them with the newest and most advanced technology. This gives them access to the highest quality technology that provides them with an even easier way to communicate with people all around the world.
