tensions between Japan and China in East China Sea, Thesis
Tensions between Japan and China have always been heated, but in recent years, disputes over a group of small islands have brought them to the brink of war, with the U.S backing Japan and Russia backing China.
I think it is a good thesis, but agree with T.J. and think that adding three parts to your thesis could show the layout of your whole paper in a better way.
Avoid generalizations in thesis ("always") and specify the time period under consideration. Identify the reasons (geo-political & historic) for these tensions.
You may want to include three parts to your thesis statement to show the main ideas of your body paragraphs.
